Maybe a giftcard to MRC could help you make that investment your feet with thank you for. At the very least, stop by and give them a try and if we are out of your Hoka’s. This shoe is top-of-the-line, and it will have you enjoying every step of every mile.
If the Shoe Fits:
Trey’s Take on the Atomo: “Loved the lightweight feel for an everyday trainer. The insole felt like it was perfect math for my foot and felt supportive all the way through.”
If you have been in Hoka’s for the past year you might’ve noticed their lack of inventory right now. While this is frustrating, and I hope the issues are resolved soon, there are other options for light high-cushioned running shoes. The newest of which is the Diadora Equipe Atomo. This new trainer for Diadora is lightweight, supportive, and highly cushioned. Not to diss Hoka but it feels like the Clifton but way better. However for 190$ I would hope it is better. This shoe is a little different than the rest of the Diadoras that we have had in store. It is more lightweight and streamline than the Mythos 6 or the Volo. It is also more breathable and fits closer true-to-size. It isn’t super responsive, but the cushion and contour of them gives you a little pep in your step walking around.
Performance Review: Put this shoe at the top of your wish list. The amount of cushion and perfect fit, matched with the weight makes it almost impossible to beat. I only used this shoe for easy-breezy miles but I can easily see it being used as an up-tempo shoe or a race day shoe. The fit along the midfoot is unmatched. The footbed is super comfortable and really makes the ride from heel to toe feel smooth and full of cushion. It’s also comforting knowing that this feeling and value will hold up in the shoe.
The Duratech 5000 special wear-resistant rubber compound assures a far higher wear resistance than standard rubber, offering an effective solution to needing to replace those shoes. The new "dd anima" technology stands out in the running shoe sector not only for great shock absorption (cushioning) but also for extreme lightness and reactivity. Combined with the spring action of the shank in ultra-resistant and elastic pebax, it ensures propulsion and energy saving, so favoring the foot's transition from impact phase to thrust phase. All for a fast, smooth run.
