The right to vote is a persons duty and privilege, so we want to exercise that right with a bracket to determine the top shoe of 2022. Every week for the rest of the year we will be putting shoes head to head to battle it out in our bracket. Voting will be done via instagram story as well as google form links. Do you have a pair of shoes that you think are worthy of the title? If so support that shoe by voting. Votes will be limited to 1 per person on both mediums. The bracket is arranged in somewhat typical fashion- higher seeds(favorites) taking on the perceived lower seeds. Do you back the higher seeds or do you believe your shoe is an underdog that deserves respect. We can't wait to see what shoe comes out on top. Who knows.. maybe there is a promotion in store for the winning shoe...
In the Midwest region:
Highlighting this region a bit. The crowd favorite year after year; Brooks Ghost sits at top. A few other veteran models: Nike Pegasus 39 and New Balance 880v12. A couple newcomers that have made some noise this year- the On Cloudmonster and Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 will duke it out at the bottom in the first round. The second pair of On shoes is the versatile cloudflyer. Diadora represents two of the shoes with the lightweight Mythos Volo and the high cushioned stability shoe Vigore. All really great shoes!
Moving on to the East Region
Sitting as the top seeds in this region we find the Saucony Triumph 20, one at the top of everyones lists, and the Hoka Bondi 8. Both max cushioned shoes for those long run days that have both been very popular with this newer models. More high cushioned shoes in this region are the Brooks Glycerin 20, featuring the new nitrogen infused foam in the midsole, and the Altra Torin 5, featuring the zero drop and footshape toe box. A few stability shoes in this region are the Asics Kayano, one of the most stable and reliable shoes year after year, and the Mizuno Wave Inspire, with its unique stability and energy return with the Enerzy and waveplates. Another mizuno model in this bracket is the Wave Rider, which is in the running for most improved model from last year.
Onto the West Region
Uh oh, her comes the West region and with it comes some super shoes. The endorphin series took the work by storm about 2.5 years ago, and it has only improved since. The Endorphin Speed by Saucony is the number 1 seed in this bracket for a good reason; it's versatile as heck. But, what's this? Another everyday training shoe that has performance boosting potential without sacrificing comfort? That right in the same region the new New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Trainer takes the #2 seed. With those two heavy hitters it is hard to see another shoe making it out. But I think the two Hoka stability shoes; Arahi and Gaviota have a chance to meet them at the end. Not to mention one of the longest running models- the Saucony Ride 15 and New Balance 1080v12 - that definitely will receive some votes. Rounding out the region is the versatile Brooks Levitate and the reimagined Diadora Mythos Vortice, both really awesome and popular shoes in their own right.
Lastly, the South region.
The South region is a mixed bag. At the top we have the Nike ZoomX Invincible FK 2, a supershoe trainer in every regard. The ZoomX foam that makes the best elite marathon racing shoe turns out to make a pretty great everyday trainer as well. The other heavy hitter is the 'Ol Reliable Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22, overpronaters and supinators right hand man. Scattered throughout the bracket you have some max cushioned stability/guidance shoes with the Altra Paradigm 6, one of the most comfortable shoes for anything from long runs to standing at work, and then the New Balance Vongo 6, a streamlined max cushioned shoe that also is very stylish. Two more high cushioned shoes in here are the Mizuno Wave Sky 6 and the Asics Gel-Nimbus 24, both stable supportive shoes with loads of comfort. Rounding the region out is the Hoka Mach 5, one of my favorite versatile trainers, and the Under Armour HOVR Mega 3 Clone, another versatile stylish trainer.
Voting will begin soon, we will update the blog when we get a hard date, as well as include links to the google form voting.
