Mach 5 Review
A brand mostly known for it max cushion, plush comfort, and slightly orthopedic look- Hoka continues to rise in the ranks at run specialty stores everywhere. The Mach 5 is a versatile, high energized shoe that takes advantage of the Hoka ‘meta-rocker’ with a mixture of soft, responsive Profly+ midsole foam and a rubberized outsole. (*Ooooooh-aaahhh)*
Loaded with cushion while still feeling lightweight; the 1080 story.
One of the longest running models in New Balance’s Running shoe line is still rocking the recent Fresh Foam X midsole and lots of it. With New Balance pushing the fresh foam More v4 and FuelCell SuperComp trainer, where does that leave this high cushioned, while not the highest cushion trainer, in their line?
That same feeling is what Altra tries to put in their shoes. They always have a 0mm heel-to-toe offset. The goal; to keep you moving how we were suppose to move, since we were born. This new model is one I think people will continue to enjoy.
I’ve had a few models of the Clifton before. It’s been a solid shoe; real comfortable, pretty versatile, crazy lightweight. I had always liked how Hoka uses a metrocker midsole, which is a dynamic curvature to help you go heel-to-toe smooth, quick and efficiently. They want to compete with the hobby jogging king, Brooks. I believe they can definitely do so!
