For race directors
A race is a checklist with a start time.
This is the store's published advice, shortened. Additions and questions go to Ben Sigle.
- 1New races are a lot of work and often raise less than directors hope. Enlist help early and split the jobs.
- 2One distance is simpler than three. A 1 mile or 1K fun run is a common add-on for kids and walkers.
- 3A cause, a clear name, and sponsors lined up early matter more than a last-minute flyer.
- 4Look at event insurance. The store points directors to rrca.org.
- 5Measure the course carefully and do not make it short. City streets and parks usually need a permit. For USATF certification, the store says to contact Ben Sigle. The published note is that certification is $25 and good for 10 years.
- 6Saturday mornings around 8:00 am are the usual slot. Most 5Ks and 10Ks on the page are described in a $25–$50 range, with longer races higher. Those are the store's general notes, not a quote for your event.
- 7Manhattan Running Company can set up online registration. Email Ben. For timing, the page points to Red Dirt Race Management.
- 8Plan restrooms, volunteers, shirts, aid, and awards before you print the flyer. Printing questions on the page go to Luke Sigle at luke.sigle@vernoncompany.com. Race photos go to Tim Sigle at timsigle@siglephoto.com.
